A precious friend offered hubby and I free tickets to a must-see dinner theater. It is all the rage in our church. :) The Cajun Dinner Theater. The dilemma - babysitter. We have none. Our giver of tickets just happened to suggest a possible fit to this dilemma. We asked the suggested teen and we were on our way! GULP! My babies were with a stranger!! I've met the girl's mother twice before and they are in our Home School community so.... I dove into the next level of parenting. I took a deep breath and walked out of my house like a big girl while a teenager watched my darlings. OK, now I must admit.. her mother stayed with her! THANKS BE TO GOD! The young lady has taken babysitting classes and she is trained in CPR - way more qualified than I EVER was in my teen years. Since our darlings were so young, her mother thought it best to help her lead the way! Once again... THANKS BE TO GOD!!
It is so hard to leave your kids with a teenager!! YIKES! But we had fun - laughed a ton!! I realized I hadn't laughed so much in quite some time! The dinner was great!! Entertainment - fabulous! Company - better than great! I am glad I took my big girl step into the world of babysitters - finally!! I think I can do it again! Whew! It is worth the break! Thanks again precious friend for the tickets - I don't think I would have ever been interested in going had it not been for your generous offer!
PS - are any of you bloggers having trouble with spell check?? Mine isn't working and I wondered if I was alone in this error!

So glad you got a much needed night out!!! I'm also glad you enjoyed it and had a great sitter! A first great step that will lead to many, I'm sure! :D
You know if we lived closer Dave and I would have been over in a heart beat to babysit!
As for teenagers babysitting. I had three amazing daughters who were all fantastic sitters. They love kids and each had a family and eventually felt like they were adopted big sisters.
I hope you find such a girl to watch the kids. You will have peace and enjoy life outside of the house with your husband.
Spell check....argh! Not working.
Glad you had fun! YES it is SO hard to leave my kiddos with anyone except the Grandparents!!!!!..... and then I give them a list of must do's and don'ts!! (like they have never raised kids!! they do not like my lists!! I don't blame them!!!!!)
FUN! I love date nights! I've got some great sitters all from Highlands if you need any! They probably know your kids already too!!
Glad you got a babysitter. Did the kids love it?!
What a great picture of the two of you! We left our kiddos with our soon to be 15 year old niece the other week - that was HARD!! It is so good to get out though!!
PS - yes, spell check hasn't worked for me either. :-(
Hi - haven't visited you in a while. Ahhh, yes, I remember leaving my 3 kiddos w/a babysitter. A teen! I made sure they were comitted to my kids and DIDN'T talk on the phone! LOL!
It always worked out and we ended up having date nights weekly.
Blessings!
Oh I love the pictures here that I have been catching up on! You guys are having a great time!
We have actually never had too hard of a time leaving the kids. The girls LOVE our 14 year old sitter to pieces and she just adores them. We don't leave all three - unless D is napping. It is so worth developing that relationship so you can get out.
We have her come once a month on a SAt night so we can go out (once the kids are sleeping) I use her one day a week ALL summer for three hours so I can have a morning to run errands.
Find a gal and keep her!
Spell check...UGH for me too.
Good for you! I'm glad the two of you got out and enjoyed yourselves. We have the same dilemma, and I am currently on a hunt for a good, reliable, Christian babysitter for my kids. Hubby and I would so enjoy a night out!
Blessings for a great week!
Happi
