HC was growing a little bored with our reading process. Thanks to Tad and Mr. Quigley (in the Letter Factory) HC knew her letters, and the sounds they made, before we began. We were going through a different letter every day but she still wasn't challenged. Neither was I really. As we approached the end of the alphabet, I decided to speed up the process by 'teaching' her 2 or more letters/sounds on our school days. We finally were free to explore reading. Here are the words HC reads now:
We've also added a few consonants in front of 'at'. (P, B, C, M, R, S) She is having fun again and so am I. I think HC enjoys a little challenge in her day, just like me. I love to learn and to be stretched. I get so bored with the same thing over and over again. I guess Motherhood was bound to suit me, I never know what lurks around the corner each day! :)

You know, it all started to click for Quintin when he could spell and write words. He was doing well with the sounds, but when we started making words - his progress picked up so much and so fast!
Happy reading!
It looks like she is doing great! My little buckaroo is using a book called Alpha Phonics that an older homeschool mom let me borrow, it is excellent and he has picked up reading quickly this way. Good luck.
Very good!!!

How cool! I've always thought teaching reading would be the hardest of all. You're doing good!
That's GREAT! Isn't the Letter Factory wonderful? It only took Tristan a week to learn all his letters from that video. He also likes the Word Factory and the Math Circus. Leap Frog is awesome! :)
Way to go HC!!!
Oh, and you're awesome too!!!
She is doing well! We got a hooked on phonics computer game that my (then 4 year old) whizzed through. Before I knew it he was reading all sorts of words like the ones you showed here.
Oh, these were so hard for Lindsey! I didn't think she would ever read. Praise God she is a smarty pants now!
We ended up using our tramp to jump up and down as we worked on spelling words. It was a great way for her to not get bored and spell those words!
