Faith Builder Friday

Do you live your life with your past in mind or with your future in mind?? If you've messed up and feel like you've lost your footing - do not make decisions based on the fear of what has been but on the hope of what may be.

For example.. in the Bible even though Saul was king at the time, David was anointed to be the king. It was what David was called to do but during the waiting period Saul became bitter toward David and even tried to have David killed (1Samuel 19:1) . Even though David was being wronged and being chased... David reacted according to his calling and not with the current situation in mind. David went into hiding and sought to hide from the battle rather than to push his way into the seat of King. David even cut Saul's garment (1Samuel 24:4) and then felt badly for doing that one thing. But David then showed Saul if he were trying to kill Saul - he could have done so while he slept. (1Samuel 24:9-10). David knew that even though he would be king - the time was not yet come.

David could have attacked Saul and stood up for himself but he did not. Instead David trusted God to handle the details while he removed himself from the problem. How often do we think we 'deserve' a promotion or an opportunity given to someone else. Instead of supporting them and acting as though we are leaders - we begin to take on the poor me mentality. "Why did I get passed up?? I am more deserving. I am not going to be under them! I trained them for their current position - why should I now answer to them??" Often times we are taken down a curvy road that we think should be straight, due to our personal need for character building! God is far more concerned with our character than He is with our comfort! To have all we want but to lack character is to have nothing!

Look at the news and that is more and more evident everyday. How many 'famous' people look lost and unhappy with their abundance! They lack the character to manage their lives. Their lives manage them. I want ease in my life, as anyone does, but I would rather have it after I'm ready! How sad to have it and then lose it! But even when we lose it, once we get back on track - He has it waiting for us again! Our calling never changes! We may take detours but once God calls us - He equips us accordingly!

David acted with integrity! He acted like a King even though he was a servant to the king. What character! We can only accomplish such tasks with the guidance of the Holy Spirit! Thank God we are always prepared for what He has in store for us - if we will only recognize it and follow His lead! Too often we think God needs our help in accomplishing His promises and we force things too soon - which only adds further delays to our road in the end! Wait on Him, He is never late!

Melodye,
Thank you for this great post. I have enjoyed your blog for many months and your coupon helps too! You inspired me to blog my story and I have had a blast. I have an issue that I need help with. I checked my sitemeter and I am alarmed at a few blog sites that have viewed my blog and pictures of my daughters. Have you had problems and any advice. I know God meant my blog for good but the evil one has another plan.

Thanks,
Kristi
