Is it wrong that when my kids see me at the computer they think it is work! :) It is our little secret - what they don't know won't hurt them!
This will be another busy week! We are still unpacking the last bit of boxes and trying to get organized, while I plan my daughter's 4th birthday party! Much to do!! We are celebrating our 10 year anniversary this week too! We will be full of the fun busy this week but next week is real work!
We found out our subdivision is having their annual yard sale next weekend! They claim the turn out was so great in prior years that people had to park and walk just to get to the houses participating. I've never had a yard sale and, after 10 years of marriage, we are due to sell a few things. So our chaos will continue for another week of getting prepared for that as well! It is a little crazy unpacking and then trying to decide what will go and what will stay.
I have not kept up with my kids clothes for the past 1.5 year. In the past I've sorted through their clothes to keep the stuff I thought was too cute to let go of and brought the remainder to consignment. We are planning to have more kids and so why let go of the stuff we know we will reuse! Anyway, the consignment world here is so different from BR. They have annual consignment sales and I have not found out about the consignments until after the fact. So we are well over due in letting go of some kids clothes.
My only thought is how do I price things for a yard sale. I want to get the most I can without pricing too high! Does anyone know of a website with yard sale tips? For now I am off to take my kids to meet friends at the park. They are due some play time with all of the chaos this past week has brought! So off for laughing and playing!! See ya soon friends!

Sounds fun. What perfect timing to have a yard sale! Here's a yard sale site I found when I did one a few months ago, I don't remember if it has anything about pricing.

Here's a consignment site I found. They keep track of all the consignment sales going on. It's awesome!

Sounds like a busy week! I have never had a yard sale, so I am no help in that department!
Those are great resources that Amanda listed! I wish I had known about them when I had my yard sales!
I am glad you are getting work done (unpacking, etc.) but still leaving time to get out and play!

Congrats on great family happenings! I've had yard sale so many times - we've moved every year or so..
I;ve had some items that I haven't been able to "let go" on cheap prices, like the strollers or other expensive baby gear, but usually I try to price pretty low, just to get rid of things.
BTW, bake some cookies with the kids and they can have a cookie sale (or lemonade, but cookies work better with smaller kids). My kids love it, they feel they are doing something important and usually people love buying their cookies. And when they are busy with their important mission, you can focus more on selling and helping people who might have questions of your things.
Have a wonderful week, let us know how it went!

WOW! You have a busy week... a 4th Birthday party to plan and your anniversary!! Along with the unpacking and the yard sale. Ugh!
You know we had a yard sale 2 weeks ago and it went really well... besides people trying to bargain down everything to a penny (seriously), we had fun and made some money off of things we were going to throw out.
I, like you, want to have more kids and have completely let the clothes sorting go too!!

I love garage sales - wish I could come!! I'm sure if you do a google search - some sites will pop up - but it looks like you have some places to look already.
I tagged you for something today!
okay, first I can't get over that you've never had a yard sale!!! You are in for a treat, my dear.
Also, get out there early, cause people will start showing up WAAAAAAY before the scheduled time. And, people will always "dicker" with you on the price, so if you price too low, you've got no where to go!
I also would put out a table of ice cold water or lemonade as an added little benefit to stopping by your house...maybe will make people stay longer or feel a little more obligated because of your hospitality.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!
Ugh~
I swore years ago that I would never do another yard sale. I'll give it away first... actually you give away at a yard sale but it is mor work!
Not only that, but you will come home with a trunk load~
