Don't let go!

We have had a tough weekend and a tough Monday. When I say tough I mean physical! My kids have found they love to wrestle together and we all know this leads to accidents!! It seems the BEST place for them to tackle each other and wrestle is on the sofa of course! Where else can you get a little air under you without regretting it?? haha

This activity has led to my son falling off of the sofa twice. The only times worthy of mentioning because they were the ones that hurt! I've told them 100 times - no jumping or wrestling on the sofa but what do I know? I'm mom and mom just doesn't understand the fun a sofa can bring! After recovering from the two big falls (on a carpeted floor) my son was up for more! I love that about him!

What was funny was my daughter! She is really tough! She's always been this way! I wonder how things will change once JB becomes stronger than she is. Right now she can tackle him and she has the upper hand! She isn't one to like being outdone!

On Monday I took the kids to the park and we were having a great time playing and chasing our friends. We had our snack and began playing again when JB had another rough moment! I was pushing him on the big boy swing and then he LET GO!!!! I was shocked! He's never done that before! He was at the incline point and let go!! He hit his head and was pretty shook up.

We were there with a good friend and she has two boys. Her oldest was swinging next to us and then he jumped off! I think JB thinks he is 4 and should be able to hang with his older buddy. They were shadows of one another the whole day. So JB took a chance and let go. The only thing he didn't do was jump - a key part of letting go!! :) I love how brave he is but I also hate how brave he is!!

After he settled down, he wanted to swing again! I was not up for that yet! I could just imagine that his head was spinning!! So Mommy said no and we went home. He is fine now but I cannot imagine what is down the road for us with our adventurous little man!!

OMG! That photo is adorable!! I so know what you mean about wrestling, etc! The boys do that all the time. Yesterday Alex (my middle guy) tackled down William from behind! This wrestling move out of the WWF! But I love the photo you have up today... !!!

Let's hope he never loses that fearlessness - maybe it will translate into fearlessness to share Christ, fearlessness to do something "impossible" or "foolish" that ends up being a God-ordained opportunity. You never know.

I know what you mean about the couch wrestling!! Also, my poor little girls sometime get wrestled by Asa whether they want to or not. Thank God He gave Asa a younger brother!

Thanks for visiting my blog! It sounds like your kids have a great time together. My little girl is tough too. She is younger than her brother by almost 3 years, but she can give him a run for his money!

You seem so good at taking it all in stride - I'm pratically beside myself when they start wrestling - all kinds of worries and fears - good grief, am I overprotective or what?

And of course, you silly goose, I knew you were joking - I was laughing so hard I almost fell out of my chair when I read it - I just had to give you a hard time back - no worries, here girlfriend - I've got pretty tough skin - except when it comes to wrestling! :D

I was not big on letting my girls jump on anything except our tramp when they were older. Our second daughter went to the neighbors and jumped with their son on the sofa only to have a spring pop out and slit her wrist. She was about five at the time. Yes, we headed to the doctor for stitches. That ended the jumping once and for all. She remembers that day very clearly and she is 22 now.

Your poor little man on the swing. I'm sad just thinking about him. I hope he is okay. Give him an extra kiss and hug for trying to be big and just not getting the whole picture. Awwww.

Thank you for the comment you left regarding my girls relationship. Although I so understand your words, it really made me stop in my tracks because even though I long to be apart of what my girls share your words reminded me that I have been blessed with a wonderful mother who has always been my best friend. She is fun and full of life. She adores my daughters and feels very best to have one daughter, me!
She never had a sister either and we have always cherished one another.
Thanks for the reminder to never take her for granted.

Even at this early an age, I'm afraid that I have a fearless one, too! It'll be wonderful when he's older, but I'm afraid it'll bring about many tears (his & mine) between now and then!

The pic is great! Your kiddo's are just gorgeous!

My philosophy: If they get hurt, they'll learn not to do it again! My kids are tough, especially the twins. We actually bought them those huge boxing gloves so they can duke it out without hurting eachother. They have a BLAST!!! And it's all in fun. These are the 2 most rough&tumble kids I've ever known.....my friends are always around me gasping in fear when they see them in the midst of a stunt and I just sit there relaxed! Maybe I should be a little more cautious.....but unless immenent danger is at hand or I know they will really hurt themselves or someone else, I let them go.....with a very watchful eye on them of course!
